Title:Faculty Appointment, Sociology Program, Department of Humanities & Social Sciences

LaGrange College seeks to fill a tenure-track faculty appointment in Sociology at the rank of Assistant Professor.  The Sociology program is an anchor program within the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences.  Through both a solid grounding in theory and engagement in the field (via internships and special programming) students receive a thorough and intensive introduction to the discipline.  The program’s engagement in LaGrange College’s Undergraduate Research Program affords students the opportunity to work directly with Sociology faculty on research projects that build their professional skills. The standard teaching load for this position is four courses each semester.

We seek a Sociologist with a specialization in Criminology.  In addition to teaching survey as well as upper division Sociology courses (including Theory/Methods, Kinship & Family, Social Policy, etc.), the selected candidate will have the opportunity to expand what is currently a minor in Criminology into a major program. This position gives the selected candidate the opportunity to develop the components of a new major program that should include the supervision and mentorship of undergraduate research projects in the field.

Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and service, as well as an appreciation of the mission of small liberal arts institutions.

Earned doctorate in Sociology (preferably by August 2022) required.
