Job Summary

The primary responsibilities of the Alumni & Development Coordinator will be to provide cultivation and solicitation of alumni and donor friends for their annual support to LaGrange College to ensure completion of the annual fund and the alumni participation goals each year. The Alumni and Development Coordinator will also provide administrative support to the Offices of Alumni and Community Relations and Development and is responsible for the coordination of alumni events and activities.


Job Duties (but not limited to):

  • Complete 30 face-to-face visits per year with primary responsibility for soliciting, renewing, and upgrading gifts to the LaGrange College Fund.
  • Develop and carry out action plans for cultivating and soliciting donors and prospects.
  • Collaborate with gift officers to identify prospects who may be appropriate for major gift cultivation and solicitation.
  • Demonstrate fiscal responsibility and thoughtful planning in the use and care of all College resources, including staff and student time; funds budgeted for travel, telephone, events, or other activities; property such as vehicles, computers, cell phones, etc.
  • Recruit and support volunteers to maximize alumni giving and participation rates.
  • Create, design, and facilitate the Philanthropy Celebration week on campus to promote student giving and good will.
  • Select and lead student intern(s) to promote philanthropy on campus.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director of the LC Fund to develop the annual giving program operational plan which may include responsibilities for Peer-to-Peer fundraising initiatives and other short-term, focused campaigns designed to maximize gifts in the under $1,000 category.
  • Perform routine administrative functions including creating reports, updating database information, taking minutes of various meetings, assembling small mailings, organizing and managing office supplies. Complete correspondence, contact reports, expense reports and reimbursements, accurately and in a timely fashion. 
  • Assist with the planning and execution of alumni and development events, including Homecoming.
  • Participate actively in all required and requested meetings, openly contributing ideas and suggestions to strengthen the College’s alumni and development program.
  • Assist colleagues in other duties as assigned to meet the challenges and opportunities of LaGrange College’s alumni and development goals.
  • Participate in professional development activities as suggested/needed, including regular participation in campus and community activities that will enhance donor contacts.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one year of administrative/event planning/fundraising experience; or, the equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education as approved by Human Resources. Prior administrative experience in a college or university is preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills and capacity to determine priorities.
  • Strong computer skills are required, particularly in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Raiser’s Edge and Banner databases.
  • Ability to proof and edit written materials.
  • Excellent analytic, organization and problem-solving skills with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record; personal car available when necessary.
  • Ability to work weekends of Homecoming, Commencement, and a few nights during the year.
  • Handle sensitive situations with a caring and respectful nature and execute and respond to requests in a professional manner.
