Description

The Department of Business is seeking to hire an Assistant Professor of Sports Management for a 9-month, full-time, tenure track position with a start date of August 1, 2022.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent teacher and communicator who can offer a transformative educational experience for our majors and develop a strong working relationship with departmental colleagues.

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Teaching courses in-seat and online in the Sports Management concentration including Introduction to Sports Management, Sports Law, Sports Marketing, Sales and Fundraising, and Event Management
  • Advising program majors and minors
  • Participating as assigned on faculty committees, department professional development meetings and workshops, monthly faculty meetings, and special campus or community events
  • Working closely with majors to develop meaningful internship opportunities
  • Supporting student research projects
  • Participating in official College functions including Faculty Institute, Convocation, Honors Day, Baccalaureate, and Commencement.

The successful candidate will be committed to best practice in the classroom and to working actively with colleagues to assess and refine courses in alignment with departmental learning outcomes. Prior experience teaching undergraduate students is preferred. The minimum education requirement for hiring consideration is a master’s degree with significant experience in the field. Consideration for tenure will require completion of a doctoral degree program.
