Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Head Basketball Coach, the Assistant Basketball Coach will provide leadership and guidance with all aspects of the intercollegiate basketball program. The Assistant Basketball Coach will work to provide optimal playing conditions for LaGrange College women’s basketball student-athletes. The Assistant Basketball Coach will provide information and evaluations regarding recruits, roster development, expense reports, game personnel, and staff.
Job Duties:

In cooperation with the Head Basketball Coach, develops and maintains a system to identify potential recruits and work closely with area high school coaches and parents to recruit quality student-athletes.

Works with the Head Basketball Coach to encourage the development of psychological, social, and mental skills necessary for the student-athletes to succeed in the classroom, on the field, and in future endeavors.

Works with the Head Basketball Coach in developing practice plans, line-ups, game strategies, and individual workout and practice needs for various student-athletes.

Serves as a role model for student-athletes by always exhibiting ethical and professional conduct.

Provides oversight of athletes residing in campus housing.

Represent LaGrange College at various civic events throughout the community.

Maintains confidentiality of information exposed during business regarding students, supervisors, or other employees.

Contributes to a safe educational and working environment by participating in all drills and training and being prepared to act should a health or safety emergency occur.

Assists in all aspects of Basketball summer camps held at LaGrange College.

Oversees all Basketball work-study students by providing them with responsibilities and maintaining hours.

Serves as the game day manager for home games.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree and high school or collegiate-level coaching experience are required.
Experience competing at the collegiate level is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to evaluate physical performance related to an inter-collegiate Basketball program.
Ability to effectively communicate both within and outside the College, including, but not limited to, student-athletes, parents, recruits, coaches, and civic and business leaders.
Ability to work as a support individual within a group setting.
Ability to provide effective leadership to student-athletes to encourage successful academic development and competitive performance.
Ability to work a flexible schedule (i.e., evenings, holidays, weekends).
